Dog Pound Could Be Park's Best Friend

March 13, 2007 – Maggie Collida wanted more from her neighborhood park, but was never completely for or against development of an animal shelter there.

The Animal House Fund is now clear to build its animal control facility in Ellendale-Arsenal Park and also plans to improve the park with Collida's help.

Dog-friendly event tries to collar funds for new pound

October 24, 2006 – Chilly weather failed to take the bite out of an event held Sunday to raise funds for a new city dog pound. The Animal House Fund held Barkapalooza at Forest Park and managed a decent crowd, said Katherine McGowan, executive director of the group. The not-for-profit group has tasked itself with finding a site, raising funds and having a new pound built to turn over to the city.

Building for the Environment

April 12, 2006 – The group backing a new dog pound for the city has altered its plans to include environmentally-friendly elements in the design. Ed Throop, chairman of the Animal House Fund, presented the new design and other information last week to the Ellendale Neighborhood Association to a mostly positive response.

March 11, 2006 – Charlie looked adorable, and he knew it. Sporting a bright red beret, bedecked with black cats, and a paw-printed red scarf flung nonchalantly around his neck, the dashing Dalmatian put on his happiest face and posed for the camera like a pro.
